Welcome to the Ubuntu-Maryland Local Community website. Our team has been approved as a verified Loco team by the Ubuntu project.  We are a group of volunteers that meet regularly to promote the use of Ubuntu Linux. Our group consists of persons that are new to Ubuntu Linux and seasoned veterans that have been using Linux/Unix and opensource software for many years. Presentations from past meetings can be found in this section of the website.

Our March 25, 2017 meeting will be devoted to helping attendees install and configure Ubuntu 16.04 on their laptops.

We want to thank everyone who participated in our Bug Jam on Feb 7, 2015 at CCBC Catonsville campus. We had fun debugging and using the next scheduled release, Ubuntu 15.04.

We had a very successful Open House to celebrate the release of Ubuntu 14.04 on Sat, April 26, 2014. It included an install fest. There were 23 persons that attended and we assisted 11 persons with reviewing and installing Ubuntu on their laptops.

Our monthly meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of the month at Community College Baltimore County (CCBC) Catonsville campus in the Health Services and Technology building (HTEC)  room H-220-B Linux lab which is pictured here:

Our April 22, 2014 meeting focused on getting our group re-approved by Ubuntu and planned activities over the next few months. The Ubuntu-MD Wiki needs to be updated with current members and activities planned. We also discussed the reformation of sub groups to handle marketing, presentations, website/wiki and applications. Lastly, it was decided that we would participate in the Ubuntu 14.04 bug jam between April 4-6, 2014 and that we would have a combination new release party and install fest on Sat, April 26, 2014. A flyer for the event can be downloaded from here
